Avalanches
I chose to research avalanches because I love to snowboard and avalanches are one of the biggest dangers of it. So this research can give me more awareness and safety about these natural disasters. Avalanches occur because snow settles into different layers so when one layer slides over another it causes an avalanche. Avalanches can happen year-long as long as there is snow. Although, they are most common in the spring time. Avalanches are usually around 300,000 cubic yards of total snow rolling down the mountain. You may realize that an avalanche will occur but you may not know exactly when it will happen until the second before.
